Description/Overview
Share custom course content and Increase student engagement by delivering audio and video. KU has an enterprise solution with Kaltura to serve instructional campus content. The solution includes two environments: Blackboard, to deliver course multimedia to students, and MediaHub, so that faculty and departments can share content outside of Blackboard.
Blackboard: Every Blackboard instructor has access to upload and manage streaming media inside their course. Audio and video can be shared in course galleries or directly inside course content areas.
MediaHub: All KU Faculty, Staff and GTAs can use MediaHub, which allows you to deliver multimedia to an audience outside of your Blackboard course. MediaHub's interface and functionality is similar to Youtube, though each video that is uploaded is marked as private. Only the uploader can view or manage content under that account. So you share multimedia content by either direct link (URL) or a HTML Embed code (just like Youtube provides).
Both of these environments are connected to the same Kaltura database. So if a video is uploaded to Blackboard, it is also available in MediaHub, and vice-versa. This feature conveniently allows content creators to upload once, and deliver in a number of different ways.
Getting Started
All Blackboard instructors can use the streaming service when building their course. MediaHub is accessed at the MediaHub website using your KU Online ID. Only Faculty, Staff and GTAs can login to MediaHub.
