Wimba Voice is designed to increase the interaction and student engagement of your course with the use of threaded voice boards, voice-enabled email, and embedded voice within course pages. Wimba Voice allows instructors to integrate audio recording and playback functionality into Blackboard. There are five voice tools, each used for a different purpose:
Record a message and post it in any Content Area. Students can play recorded messages back at anytime.
Create a threaded discussion board that uses audio recorded directly online with text comments. Voice boards can be made accessible to the entire class or individual students.
Record audio messages and email them to course members.
Post links to Web pages and record accompanying audio narration. Students can comment on the presentation by recording an audio or text response.
Record podcast episodes directly in Blackboard. Podcasts can be accessible to both enrolled users and external users.
Request Wimba Voice for your course(s)
NOTE: KU has a limited number of licenses for Wimba Voice, so each course needs to be enabled manually. Follow the steps below to request Wimba Voice for your course.
- Contact Blackboard Support at 864-2600 or email@example.com.
- Provide the course title and ID that you’d like activated.
- Wimba Voice will be activated in your course within one business day.
Access Wimba Voice tools
Wimba can be accessed and deployed through the Content Areas of a Blackboard site. To access these tools, choose the appropriate content area in which you would like to use Wimba. Inside of the Content Area, click the Build Content button to select Voice Authoring or click the Add Interactive Tool button to introduce other Wimba tools.
